Tearsheets from Blue Skye Farm shot for Martha Stewart Living, 2014
This was an incredible assignment on so many levels. The setting was obviously gorgeous and the people involved all so wonderful. The images on location here I shot back in the spring of 2013 down on the eastern shore of Virginia. Turns out that the editors loved the story so much that they decided to turn it into a much larger feature and wanted to incorporate some studio product shots as well. For those who follow my work you would know that I almost never shoot in studio, its just not my style, let alone product still-life. But because of my great working relationship with the people over at Martha Stewart, they decided to give me the chance to shoot the remaining studio shots so that the whole story would be mine. I’m so grateful that they trusted me with this. I was very out of my element, especially having a whole team of people on-hand. Typically my shoots are just me and maybe one assistant, but to have a digital tech, stylists, an art director and a plethora of other support staff was actually kinda awesome! They all made me feel like ‘you got this’ and I loved the team spirit. So here’s to taking chances!
